This is my playback song exercise in final year of Direction & Screenplay Writing at Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI), Kolkata. The song is in Hindi. Shot entirely at various locations in Kolkata. Introducing- Samadarshi Dutta & Ronjini Charavorty (Both actors are from FTII, Pune acting course) Rest crew is from SRFTI, Kolkata. Directed By- Wardan Tiple Cinematography- Anubhav Kabir Editing- Sounak Chakravorty Sound Recording & Mixing- Amit Dutta Shot on 35 mm Cinemascope using Arri 435.

Billu, a mischievous school boy comes home from school. His Mother cooked a sweet dish and a veggie of bitter gourd for him. He asks for lunch and his mother serves him a veggie of bitter gourd which he never liked. He gets angry and leaves home. When he comes home in the evening neither his Mother nor his Grandmother speaks with him. Will he be able to break the silence?

It takes a lot of sweat and blood, patience, pain, labor and a complete metamorphosis to transform black soft natural mud into red hard synthesized brick. Brick- the foundation of almost all man-made structures and a silent onlooker of human race, history and society. Neev follows this magical labor oriented process of brick-making and captures the life weaved into this process. The human touch of the laborers, glimpse of their families who form the integral part of the brick-making environment and the machines create a melancholy of images. The narration moves from dawn to dusk in a brick-making environment, encapsulating every aspect of brick making. In turn the narrative representation symbolizes the brick-making process as a metaphor for life. Winner of Jury Award in Sebastopol Documentary Film Festival 2011
