Please help me choose animation software

Finding someone who wants to buy my script has not gone well.

So it looks as it is time for me to create one more no-budget movie. This time I plan to animate. One reason is that my camcorder is 14 years old.

So please help me choose animation software. I have never animated, partly because I am no good at drawing. Even though I have produced 22 hours of no-budget films.

I prefer freeware. With a 94 pages long script, I need to do something which is as simple as possible. So I am looking for something which is simple to learn.

I know about Blender, which unfortunately is difficult to learn.

Please tell if you want to collaborate.

Sounds like stop motion would be right for you. Use some of your cinematography skills, don’t need to draw. Just animate anything that isn’t nailed down!

Stop Motion Studio is the cheap app to start off with. For phone, tablet, or computer if you have a camera to hook up.

Göran Johansson, what camera do you use? If you really want to try out CG, then I would recommend Unreal engine. You can mix and match CG with your own footage using compositing software like Fuse (also part of Resolve) or Natron.

Dear friends, many thanks for your suggestions. I will take a look at the software.

My camcorder is a Canon XA-10 (not the one in my profile photo). Maximum bitrate 24 Mbps. I have earlier used it for chromakeying, without problems.

i have started to think about creating a Lego brick film.

And I have earlier used strings and sticks to make a doll move in front of a greenscreen,,

More suggestions?

A lego brick film, using stop motion, and if you use AI to add facial animation, that could be really interesting!

Göran Johansson

Yes, I have read about Realusion which earlier offered Crazytalks to add facial expressions when somebody talks. Now they instead sell some other software to do that. I should check it.

Stop Motion or LTX Studio

Thanks, I will take a look at that one too.
