Read a Good Book Lately? : ALIEN 3 by Pat Cadigan based on the unproduced screenplay by William Gibson by Christian Cujovic

ALIEN 3 by Pat Cadigan based on the unproduced screenplay by William Gibson

I just finished ALIEN 3 by Pat Cadigan based on the unproduced screenplay by William Gibson (Newromancer, Cyberspace - father of the Cyberpunk genre).

Since Gibson’s screenplay has never been produced the story in this book is not the same you might know from the movie ALIEN 3 by director David Fincher.

The approach is entirely different from the movie and the story is carried on by Corporal Hicks and the synthetic person Lance Bishop.

It was very entertaining and interesting for me and, in my opinion, is definitely worth a read if you are passionate about my favourite Xenomorph.

You will also find rather unfamiliar ideas about the biological aspects of the Alien.

I have also gotten the impression that some ideas from this script have inspired the Alien prequel PROMETHEUS but I won’t give away any spoilers.

Pat Cadigan has done a great job of turning this screenplay into a novel and giving a deeper look into the characters, especially the survivors from ALIENS by James Cameron (Hicks and Bishop).

There also exists a comic book version of this screenplay but unfortunately it does not seem to be available where I live (still working on that).

Thank you for the recommendation. I would love to read a different version of A3. Not a big fan of 3

Christian Cujovic

You're welcome Suzanne :-) In case you read it I would be interested in hearing your opinion on it!

Pat's a terrific writer, as is Gibson. No surprise that a combination of their talents produced a memorable work!

William Gibson is awesome. Peripheral was so good.
