Filming a Holiday Movie

Happy Holidays, everyone! Safe travels if you're traveling. Has anyone filmed a Holiday movie? What was your experience filming it? Or do you have any advice for filming a Holiday movie?

Hey Maurice Vaughan - I consulted on a $1M holiday feature a few years back. My biggest advice would be to play the game within the confines of the budget and schedule. Try to keep company moves to a minimum - those cost time and money. Use fake snow if you can so you're not chasing the weather. If you have ownership of the finished product, don't be affraid to share some of it with talent that can make the film more valauble in the global marketplace. Get enough coverage to be able to craft scenes in post. And if the budget is low, try to work with a director who has done it before because they'll get you to the finish line.

I also recommend Matt Bierman's Stage 32 webinar on how to write a produce a successful holiday movie - Matt is awesome and has done it many times: https://www.stage32.com/education/products/how-you-can-write-and-produce...

Hey, Sam Sokolow. Great tips! Thanks for sharing the advice and webinar! I added the webinar to my Education wishlist. Who knows? I might write a Holiday Rom Com one day. Knowing me, I'll probably mix it with another genre. Happy Holidays!
