I just heard about one of my early SciFi favorites being remade, and I gotta say, I'm not mad! Does anyone else remember Firestarter with Drew Barrymore? Not sure about Zac Efron, but really what I'm concerned with is they went with a male director. Hmm. Thoughts?
What remake would YOU like to see?

Nah, I think I'll pass...wasn't this Stephen King's work? He's remade a lot recently... I guess its as far as Hollywood want's to go to keep income secure....
Have you seen Firestarter? It's cheesy '80s SciFi, which right now is more enjoyable to watch as a revisionist history with things like Stranger Things. I sincerely hope we get a revisionist Firestarter! LOL

Yes, I saw it but wasn't in my favorites. They'll hit the spot with the remake nevertheless, however I just think today's kids and youth (who primarily dig horror) are just not the same as 80's 90's kids...too much remakes on themes they really not interested in...things have to get rolling on.
Tried to watch the original a while back and could not get through it. Definitely think a remake/update will result in a much more watchable movie. I don't usually go for the remakes, but in this case it is much needed.
sounds awesome I love Stephen King
... ... ...Would the final season of Game of Thrones count as a viable answer here?
Dark Star never heard of that, the remake on Steven Kings It was great, remakes are good

Alien is practically (big budget) re-take on Dark Star, (by the same writer) so nuff there...

Yes, I was referring to O'Bannon and I completely agree on Carpenter. His "Thing" is most re-watchable film in the world as per my opinion...
Why are you really concerned with it being a male director? Aren't males allowed to direct anymore?
What are your concerns about a male director? Or is it Zac Efron in general?
My passion project (in my limited spare time) is my Wayne's World reboot script, however, I do not have the rights to the characters so I suppose it's a hidden passion.

Reboots tend to strip away the qualities we both know and love in a movie. I don't agree with a reboot of Firestarter, only because, I have grown to love the Firestarter I'm familiar with.

lets see with FireStarter maybe the younger crowd will like it then find out that there was an original, I'm just a King fan
The remakes I most want to see are mostly failed adaptations: The City of Ember, A Wrinkle in Time and Into the Woods
I seen two out of the three and I don't know
Hey @Nick you fan of CRITTERS ....Kudos. I was at drama school when these evil babies first came out and watched them on a tiny TV in an apart hotel London. Much later on I got all films on DVD and played them at oil and gas social meets. (Hee hee big wigs had to watch cos I was in charge). My favourite scene is where they took over a burger bar and one of them fell in the fat pan. “F...”.
Nick Assunto - Stage32 Script Services Coordinator - You willed it! LOL! Angela Cristantello - I haven't gotten that far, but I wouldn't be mad at that one either, as far as I've been told. LOL!
Nope, not mad at all.
Tune into CBS All Access on December 17th for a new THE STAND limited series.

Me too. With 10 eps, probably an hour each, it should be a definitive adaptation.

I want to see the sequel to ET as it's already written by Steven Spielberg himself. Usually remakes disappoint.
