I shot 2 short films with my own funds and was hoping to raise the rest of the money for post production. 2 crowdfunding campaigns later and no luck. I ran one before we started shooting and the other one afterwards. At this point I am discouraged any not sure what to do now in order to finish these films. Any advice on raising money or investor would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Melissa, grants are always a great way to go. Often crowdfunding can't get past your friends and family and they don't always want to give more than once. You can usually find grants that pertain to your specific script or to the people involved in your film (ie grants for women filmmakers, POC, LGBT, etc). Grants can either be private or sometimes even through your state/country. Often times you just need to write up a proposal and submit and see which ones bite. I hope this helps! Good luck!
Why do you even need crowdfunding or an investor to make a short film? You'll be extremely hard pressed to find an investor for a short film because they're looking to make money back on their investment and shorts generally don't make money.
