Maekup Effects and Wanderlust!

Hey everyone, my Directing professor from the Academy of Art led me here! I'm trained as a editor/sound designer but by a fluke ended up spending the last three years working in practical effects and makeup design, first for VGP Effects and Design in Burbank, CA and then for a short stint at Immortal Masks and Effects in San Dimas. I recently relocated back to the east coast for a family matter and ended up working in Wilmington, NC on a few indie projects and a few days on the longest ride. One the tax credits went away, I relocated to Orlando, where I am again working with Disney, this time with creative costuming at the studios. Always looking to meet new people and work on projects! I'm available anywhere in Florida and also Atlanta and New Orleans, but have been travelling a bunch and wouldn't object to heading back to CA for the right project!

Oh my goodness, your life sounds like fun. Do you love what you do? Do you want to get back to editing/sound or are you glad you're in SE & makeup (and costuming). Sounds like SO much fun.

ALL THE BEST TO YOU

Hah, well I do love it! I just wish it wasn't so hectic. I've kept up with my editing by working on vlogs and podcasts for friends because, in all honesty, practical effects work is so spotty. Most shops only hire on a job by job basis and thanks to a certain TV show (COUGHfaceoffCOUGH*) the market is flooded with a ton of young artists willing to work for free just to get their names out there. The work can be quite dangerous, too. Love doing it as long as it pays, but not a huge fan of risking my neck for free. I'm trying to diversify at the moment, my father and I are both car collectors so we are thinking about starting a picture car company specializing in classics. Anyone in the ATL, ORL, or NO markets need some cars for their films? =p

That's the cool thing about this biz, ya never know where you'll end up.
