Seeking Collaboration and Advice on My Writing Journey!

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share some exciting news about my writing journey. At age 24 I was discovered by L.A.-based film producer Benjamin Scott (known for Lovelace, Paranormal Movie, and As It's Remembered), and together we co-wrote a reality TV show that generated some promising interest.

Right now, I'm focusing on launching my debut Children's Literature series—a ten-book project. I’m also trying to create a merchandising company alongside my book series, and I’m currently working on a strategy for both licensing and merchandising. I hope that combining these efforts will enhance the reach and impact of my work. It’s a new venture for me, and I’m eager to see how it develops! The series will be available in both English and Slovenian, which I hope will broaden its reach and cultural impact.

I’ve received some early feedback suggesting that my writing style, characters, and themes might evoke the charm of beloved authors like Tove Jansson, A.A. Milne, Beatrix Potter, and Kenneth Grahame. It's encouraging to hear those comparisons. I hope to continue growing and refining my craft.

I’m incredibly excited about where this journey may lead and would appreciate any advice, collaboration opportunities, or support from the community as I move forward.

Thanks so much for your help!

Welcome to the community, S.F. Jesih. Launching a book series and creating a merchandising company alongside it sounds great and ambitious! Best to you with them! Are you looking for advice on writing your book series?

S.F. Jesih

Thank you to everyone for the words of encouragement. Maurice Vaughan I would love some editor suggestions. I do have the name of a few but am always happy to look at others. I also would be interested in any self publishing companies writers have been satisfied with.

What is your first name, please? Great market for a children's series out there and the tie-ins are endless. As a writer who has Indie-published a dozen novels, I think you first majpr decision, if you haven't made it already, is whether to go Traditional or /indie Publish. After a lot of , both good and bad experience, I have some thoughts on both if you are interested. Anyway, Good Luck & Best, Jed.

Jed Power: Thank you for your message. My first name is Sarah.

I’m quite certain about self-publishing the Slovenian version for that market, and I’m also strongly leaning towards self-publishing in English as well. That said, I’d love to hear your thoughts and any insights you have from your experiences with both Traditional and Indie publishing. It would be incredibly helpful as I finalize my decision.

Thanks again for reaching out and offering your advice.

Hi Sarah, In my experience I would suggest Indie publishing, but only with your own publishing company. Set up your OWN small publishing company. It is the way to go. YOU Don't need anyone else's small publishing company. It's easy and cheap to do. This way you would keep ALL profits, including publishing profits. That said, I would also advise Iindie is best road IF you are comfortable with technology and computers, which most young people are. Old folks , not so much. Also keep in mind that with Indie you will have to pay for anything you can't do, and do well, yourself--Like an editor ( a MUST! ). cover designer, formater, etc. Which with Trad, they take car of all that. One of best books on Trad vs. Indie for writers is "Think Like a Publisher. " by Dean Wesly Smith who has had over 200 books published by Trad publishers and has also made a fortune, in recent years, with his own Indie publishing company. And is now a respected instructor in the field. Also, there are many indie publishing support groups on FB. Good Luck & Best, Jed.
