A.I. for indie film

Simon Fraser Univerisity is developing A.I. post-production tools for indie filmmakers. They believe this will help emerging artists achieve their goals. Thoughts? https://www.sfu.ca/sfunews/stories/2024/07/sfu-lab-develops-ai-enabled-p...

Super interesting Sam Sokolow - thx for sharing. On the one hand, I like that these efforts pertain to analytical AI (not generative), meaning the 'manipulation' of lights, cameras, etc. in post is 100% responsibility of the artist. The fact that this still does what all technology has always done [make things cheaper to do] still would suggest that, even with 'lighting specialists' becoming more specialized, as he mentions, fewer of them may be needed... there.

The other interesting point this video brought to my mind is how AI will play a strategic role in the film industry competition among countries, companies, etc.

It's gonna be a wild ride, that's for sure! :)

This is an interesting article, thanks for sharing Sam Sokolow AI has been a contentious topic as of late, but tools have been using it for years. This could be really good for smaller teams trying to do something big.

I like the idea of a "Library of streamlining tools" for storytellers to get "Our Art" out of our heads on to a screen for our intended audiences to enjoy but, the AI tool presented in this video simply degraded the image and in it's current state is not useful nor usable.
