Hey, Stage-32-ers!
As you may know, next month is typically known as National Novel Writing Month, but here on Stage 32 we do a "November Write Club" where YOU set a goal for the month and then check in each week with your progress. Keep your eyes out for Jason's blog post launching the event this Monday!
In the meantime, let's help each other (and ourselves) by discussing possible goals! Comment below with daily, weekly, and monthly goal suggestions! These can be ones that have worked for you in the past, ones that you've thought about doing but never tried, or something you've heard and want to give it a go!
***If you suggest a writing prompt from somewhere, be sure to let us know where you got the prompt so we can acknowledge the good work of others! For example, in the second episode of "The Screenwriter's Life" podcast, one of the hosts gives the audience homework: https://anchor.fm/thescreenwritinglife/episodes/2--Turning-Ideas-Into-Sc...

Do we need to sign up for to participate in the "November Write Club?" My goal is to complete an outline for the Novel I've optioned to turn into a screenplay.
It launches on Monday, Nov. 2nd with Jason's blog - comment on the blog to state your goal, and then you can comment on the updates with your progress! You can also comment here if you'd like ;-)
Also, I'm a SMART goal kind of person, so will you be writing daily? How many pages are you aiming for with the outline? Who will you give it to when you're done? Not a sermon, just a thought :-D

I've already written the outline for the first act and a third of the second act. I hope to finish it by the first week of November and then start writing the script. Alternatively, if I finish the outline for "Fields of Grace," and receive the Stage 32 notes I orders for the Bottom Line, then I may use the rest of November to work on the rewrite.

PS The outline is mapping the screenplay out scene by scene. Not sure who I will give it to for notes. I presume someone who is also participating in the "November Write Club:" and like drama and romance genres.
Jill A. Hargrave Awesome, sounds like a totally attainable goal! I would read it, but my bandwidth is FULL! Maybe Dawn or Martha from the Writer's Room? If you find an "Accountability Buddy" now, then you'll be off to the races come November! Which is Sunday... and scary. LOL!

Two goals: 1. Sketch out a draft of the comics version of my TV script with my collaborator, 2. Develop a concept for the next series, and hopefully an outline as well.

I might take you up on it this year. My goal is to complete an Oscar worthy short script to take to production (or give to someone who is qualified to produce it) next year. I know there is no Oscar for short scripts but there is for live action short films and I'll share it freely. I'm aiming very high I know but I'm okay if I don't hit the mark.

Aside from finishing a draft of a self contained horror/sci-fi feature (which I am about half way through), I have a really simple goal of just sitting down and writing for an hour a day, every day, through November (and hopefully beyond). I know that i should be doing this as standard, but I have allowed myself to be consumed by an all manner of distractions as of late (post-grad study is demanding, to put it mildly) which have seriously infringed upon my writing time. So, I'm taking this month as an opportunity to 'recalibrate' my screenwriting self. We shall were this road leads. Anyway, good luck all!

My goal is to finish and publish my book of poetry by the end of the month and finish the season 2 script of my animated sci fi/action web series City Crooks

YAY! I have loved the November Write Club in the past. I'm going to focus on Sword in the Tree - polish the pilot, polish the pitches (verbal and written), make a glossy pitch deck and bible, finish the second episode and maybe even the third (that might be pushing it). Save up and try pitching it to a producer or two by the end of the month. I will also have the director's companion manual to EVAN finished and I will hope to have the script fully edited. Karen "Kay" Ross will you put the link to the Blog in here when it's posted? Cheers! Happy November everyone. And big love and peaceful energies to all of you in the States!

HEY! Just found the link! This is where we post our goals/check-ins for the rest of the month: https://www.stage32.com/blog/The-Stage-32-November-Write-Club-is-Back-Wh... You are likely to get a nice little 'gift' from St32 when you participate, but that's just a cherry on the top. November Write Club is a really powerful exercise. In past years it really helped me kick-start a winter project and I'm very grateful. Many of my later spec scripts started in November Write Club.
