Yep, Anthony Murphy! Sometimes it's outlining, sometimes it's writing scenes, researching, thinking about scenes, etc. It's all writing.

Dan Guardino I used to do as you, but for some time now, I've been practicing free writing, where I promise myself that , even and especially when unmotivated, I write for a minimum of twenty minutes a day, which usually turns into a much longer writing period. The free writing practice primes the pump.

Even if it's not fiction, there is something that I'm writing. I count blog posts.

I don't write everyday, John. I need to have a project to work on for me to write in earnest. I know it's recommended to write something everyday for practice but I haven't found any motivation to carry that out. Now, that doesn't mean I'm not thinking about or visualizing story ideas or bouncing ideas off my wife. But when immersed in a project, I'm writing everyday, sometimes all day save for a meal and cardio break.
