Been reluctant to cold query managers as I have no clue who would be a fit. I want someone who’d be as passionate for my pushing-the-edges baby as my most commercial.
Anyone have suggestions?
FATHER TRINITY (Mulholland Drive meets Parasite). Three interweaving stories of masculinity and loss set at a martial arts horror TV studio. A polarising nonlinear that was Black List recommended. Pro readers called it awards bait for A listers. It’s out there.
FIRE KINGS (Point Break meets The Bikeriders). Two undercover cops infiltrate rival biker gangs whilst hiding their criminal pasts. My most commercial. Deals with searching for brotherhood, joy of riding, refugees, trauma.
KEANU REEVES IS MY MUSE, MY SON IS A DRAGON - most awards but zero success in getting it to Keanu.
BLOOD DRIVE - vampires in the paediatric unit as a metaphor for pedophiles.
I’ve seen loads of people get signed but nothing optioned. I suspect they’re managers starting out without high level connections.
Had something on a shopping agreement that was never sent out.
If anyone can suggest a manager that would be a fit, please let me know.
Thanks!

Hi, Phoenix Black. My best advice is to check the manager bios on the Pitch Session pages to see if they represent writers with scripts similar to yours (www.stage32.com/scriptservices/pitch-sessions) and do the same thing on IMDbPro (https://pro.imdb.com/). Hope this helps and you get a manager!

John Zaozirny at Bellevue Management has done a lot of interviews where he's said he glances at most cold queries. He's a well known manager/producer who, as a producer, brought us Infinite with Mark Whalberg. A film which, although not a critical success, was a little unconventional. But don't send him your script or turn up uninvited at his office - that doesn't go down well apparently.

Colin Mummery Nice to know, but how does one get an invite?

Charles V Abela not sure. Maybe send him an intriguing unsolicited query email with an irresistibly fascinating logline that reeks of the smell of eau de boffo box office?

I don't know if Stage32 would allow this or not, but there is a website that is dedicated to connecting managers with screenwriters called roadmapwriters.com
I have heard of it but never tried it

Joey Tuccio, the founder of roadmapwriters has been in this game for a long time, starting with an outfit called Happy Writers, which was acquired by S32.
