Screenwriting : shout-out for Script Revolution by Geoff Wise

shout-out for Script Revolution

Just a shout-out here for CJ Walley's ScriptRevolution site, just the idea of having an easy place to put yourself and your scripts out there, tagged in ways to help others find it.

Have I achieved magical success there? Not yet! But I can sleep better knowing that there's a way for someone who (heaven help us), wants material like mine to find it. Thanks CJ !

Kiril Maksimoski

I find it useful too. And easy to use. Optioned one of my features through it.

I believe that the philosophy of scriptrevolution.com is far superior to other sites.

I (like many here) have used InkTip. Inktip treats writers like servants. They treat you like you should be thankful to them. They value the producers that use their site not the writers.

At scriptrevolution the writer is in control. Producers come and look. There is no wall between you and the producers.

CJ is the man.

CJ Walley

Don't you make me cry!

I've been having a tough week with Script Revolution. I found out on Tuesday that a member from here (I know specifically who) has been posting some really hurtful lies on Reddit, claiming that I allow scams to exist and ignoring any issues. After spending the past few months putting so much energy into the site with all the new features, the webinars, the discount deals, the accessibility improvements it just broke my heart to see such blatant misinformation being spread. So, just know that these comments couldn't have come at a better time.

I'm also really pleased to see the core philosophy behind the site being appreciated. It is there so writers keep that glimmer of hope. It may not be the most exclusive feeling exposure out there but it is exposure and it's free.

Moving into year four has been amazing. Script Revolution is really starting to get known within the industry and I've even come to learn about TV producers suggesting writers put their material on the site. That's amazing. The community is so strong now.

It's been almost entirely word of mouth too. I can't afford PR. Script Revolution doesn't get any coverage. But people like Richard "RB" Botto vouched for it early on and so many here put their faith in it too and continue to spread the good word. Some communities laughed me out of the room in the early days. Some even banned any mention of it. We've come a long way and it feels like things are only just getting started.

Most of all though, what I love is how, whenever the topic comes up, people talk about how the site has genuinely helped them in some way. That's what matters and that's what proves it's working.

Wal Friman

It's working. I sleep well at night because I know that I can be found on your site, CJ.

Craig D Griffiths

Once I get my lazy ass in gear. I will relaunch the podcast and SR will be (if it is okay with you) an unpaid sponsor. I also see Wal Friman here. I still have your logline. It will be first on the next episode.

Jerry Robbins

SR is getting big, and the bigger it becomes, the malcontents will come out to complain. Don't know what "issues" they are talking about. I've never seen any. The site is well-run, crystal clear in more areas than any other hosting sites regarding personal stats - etc. My first script sale was with Script Revolution, and it's one of the best sites out there. Sorry you're getting slammed CJ - some people just get off by complaining and trying to cause trouble. Usually boils down to jealousy. You host over 7,000 scripts - the hell with one jerk who has to throw stones.

Jim Boston

Geoff, I'm with you about Script Revolution.

I'm proud to be a member, and I'm glad that SR has been one of the many tools out there to get me to bring my screenwriting up to snuff. (Because of Script Rev, I'm now using Prewrite...and having a ball with it!)

Adite Banerjie

I recently joined Script Revolution and am loving it. CJ, don't let a few jealous people get you down. You're doing a great job.

CJ Walley

Thanks all. Your support means a lot.

Ally Shina

I did not even know Script Revolution exists until I read this post. I just uploaded my first script on the website. CJ Walley has been nothing but pleasant and wonderfully helpful on Stage32 so I can only assume that Script Revolution is great.

CJ Walley

I saw you sign up, Ally Shina! Yeah, it's relatively unknown. Some sites/communities actively try to stop people finding out about it.

Ally Shina

Pardon the late reply CJ, I've been on an internet break to focus on my writing. Sometimes I get distracted by the net while sitting at my desk. The site will grow in time. Word will spread through all the good work you're doing. I suspect that the sites/communities that are trying to prevent people finding out about Script Revolution think that if the industry at large where to learn about it, they'd lose a lot of business. Don't worry about it, word of mouth is a very powerful tool.

CJ Walley

That's so kind of you to write, Ally Shina. Thanks so much.

Just found out about this site! Excited to post all of my scripts up there now. I've written 8 and I'm working on four more. Glad this exists.
