Screenwriting : Nice news this evening! by Jan Evans

Jan Evans

Nice news this evening!

I'm pretty happy to get the news that my Civil War romance screenplay JACOB'S OCEAN took 1st place in the Oregon Film Awards screenwriting competition, and my period Native American screenplay YOU ARE CHEYENNE was a finalist. Nice email to get on a brisk cold evening in Ireland.

Doug Davidson

That's great! Congrats!

Jan Evans

Thanks Doug. It's a long hard road, especially for period scripts. I'm really pleased.

Debbie Elicksen

That's terrific, Jan

Richard Toscan

Hey, that's nice news!

Shawn Speake

Wow, Jan! Wow! Two winners. Talk about rolling doubles. That's incredible. How long did it take to pen JACOB'S OCEAN and YOU ARE CHEYENNE?

Jan Evans

Thanks Shawn. About 4-6 months on each one, including research. I'm big on research for these period movies.

Phil Parker

Fantastic! I recently visited the small town of Bend, Oregon. A fantastic artist and medical community. The Pacific Northwest is so beautiful. Good luck!

Louella M Reynolds

Congratulations, Jan! Best of luck on advancing them onto the screen! I have a short thas has recently made quarterfinalist - I hope that I get to experience the feeling of winning.

Jan Evans

Congrats on your short Louella! Being a Quarterfinalist is no small feat. Crossing my fingers for your win!

Eoin O'Sullivan

comhghairdeas! Most evenings are cold and wet in Ireland :)

Jan Evans

Yep, it's a big change from SoCA, this Irish weather. I'm loving it. I may never leave.

Alyssa "Nikki" Helton

Congrats!

Anthony Cawood

Congrats!

Mark David Gerson

Awesome news! Congratulations!!

Kris Polson

Congrats! Those are awesome e-mails to get! "Keep Writing" is what I hear them saying to you.

Jan Evans

Thanks all. It's a nice affirmation, and God knows we writers need that. We all know how difficult it is out there.

Jan Evans

Thanks Guy, I sure hope so! For me, it's all about character and emotion, pure and simple.

Scott Swanson

great to hear about success, whether it is your own or someone else's. Congrats

Jan Evans

Me too, Scott. I hope everybody who's trying to get their movies made gets good news. These little glimmers keep us going.
