Scene Headings

If your characters are, say, in a house, moving from room to room, how do you format the headings? a) INT. HOUSE - ENTRY - DAY INT. HOUSE - DINING ROOM - DAY INT. HOUSE - KITCHEN - DAY b) INT. HOUSE - ENTRY - DAY DINING ROOM KITCHEN c) Other (please explain) Thanks for the feedback. :)

Pierre Langenegger

I tend to use option B even though I know it can't stay that way for a shooting script.

Christopher Binder

If the very first slug line says INT. HOUSE - DINING ROOM - DAY and the scene moves into the kitchen, then it would/should read as INT. KITCHEN - CONTINUOUS.

Danny Manus

Unless you are changing time of day, or there is a time lapse, then B is an acceptable option as long as you are not cutting away to some other scene/location and then coming back. If it's all one continuous motion through 4 rooms in the house, you can just use B and it's perfectly fine!

Marco Fiorini

Or muddle time /space in a most entertaining and delightful way and win the Nobel.

Mark Walker

I use B - not that that means anything as I'm a learner, but I like the way it flows from room to room with the mini-slug rather than the full slug. I think it probably doesn't matter as long as it works for you and you are consistent throughout the script.

Thanks for the input, everyone.
