First let me tell you that I spent 35 years working as an animation director in the TV commercial business in Hollywood. CA. Many years ago my good friend, director Ahmed Lateef (now departed) and I decided to write a screenplay. We sat down and started writing 'The Baby Factory', mostly on weekends. And when it was finished we showed it to some producers we knew. Bad reception... hey!... it's our first go at a screenplay. Anyway we found out that in order to have your screenplay shown to major studios you need an agent... and to get an agent you need to have sold a screenplay or a story of some sort... so catch 22. No agent. We put it away and forgot about it... better things to do. Years latter I was in Provence working on an animation series for a French studio in Paris. I started writing parodies, Monty Python style. I sent them to 15 literary agents. One of them responded, Emerantia Parnall-Gilbert. She like what I wrote an wanted to see more of my work. Then 'The Baby Factory' came to my mind. I rewrote the whole screenplay and sent it to her, she loved it, but she does not rep screenplay, only novels. So I rewrote 'The Baby Factory' into a novel. To make a long story short, she gave me a contract and presented my novel to Summer Solstice. They in turn gave me a contract and my book was publish last September. Now the big pay off, Emerantia is now representing screenplays. And lucky me, I already have my screenplay ready to go. So you see... never give up.
Now, If that isn't a story of experience, strength and hope I don't know what is. Bon Chance!! Mon Ami!!
This is what's called "A Silver Lining" experience. Good for you.

Aray... funny you mentioned this... it's part of my philosophy... 'You're born in a room... that room has a door... you can open it and move to another room, or stay in that room... most people choose to stay in the room they were born'.
