Success Stories: SEP'8 Never Too Late

Never Too Late

I have been writing screenplays for about 20 years. I did it as a hobby because I just love writing screenplays. I wrote screenplays because it was my passion, but that was all. My first 2 scripts were terrible, but that was fine because I was just writing for fun. Then 2 years ago I started my 3rd script. It flowed onto the page quickly and easily. When I had my 2nd draft done, I felt I had something that was actually worth more than just showing my husband and close circle of friends and then put up on the shelf. When I completed my script, DANCING WITH MYSELF, I decided I wanted to put it out there and just see what would happen. I went on line and immediately found Stage 32. I entered Stage 32’s 2nd Annual Happy Writers Feature Screenplay Competition. I just won 5th place! A door has been opened. I am 55 years old and this is the first screenplay competition I have ever entered! I am so grateful to Stage 32 for their resources, encouragement, support, accessibility and for just being out there; especially for people like me. Big special thanks to Erik Grossman with Stage 32 and to the Happy Writers judges: Robert Cort, Alysia Reiner, Sev Ohanian, Nuala O’Leary and Patrick Raymond. THANK YOU!!! It’s never too late.

Wow, you have great experience with script writing. This is my first attempt at writing a script ever, due to a request during a pitch session. It's too late to get scared now, so I am learning as I go and have so much more to learn. I am encouraged by your post and will keep going until I have completed the pilot and 2 episodes. Wish me luck!
