Hi All:
I created a Facebook page for my script. On the page is an introduction to me and how Covid Plays Cupid came into being. I share videos and photos about what I did to create my script. I'm hoping that it becomes a tool to pique the interest of a producer/director.
Has anyone done this and did it work for you?
I've never thought of doing this, but I like how you set this up. Very clever!
Yes I have also facebook pages for my screenplay projects. I use them also partly as image boards for themes of my series, show locations and generate a community of fans for the projects.

I did for my first. But I have written a few and that would take all my time creating and maintaining facebook pages.
I have a website instead. One stop shop. Plus I have my work on script revolution.

No. Why should it?
i just wanna say i read your summary and it sounds really good! Great idea! I like it!
William Martell when I set one up for my first script I wanted to build a community around the screenplay (I thought that would happen). That this would attract a producer because I have people already interested in the story - a build in audience etc.
But it didn’t happen. People have better things to do. But my enthusiasm for my first work was over the top.

Facebook is evil! Evil!

I once created Instagram and Pinterest pages for some of my characters - not like mood-boards, but as if the characters themselves had set up the pages. It was an interesting exercise in getting under the skin of the characters - what they like to do in their spare time when they're not hanging out in my story. They got some some followers as well which was interesting.
I have a website set up for two of my scripts. Secured the titles just to be safe.
It's just a question of priorities. Something like this may actually connect with a producer but, if you're creating Facebook pages and neglecting other areas, that's when it can become an issue.
I'd also look at ScriptHop as a much better alternative which covers a lot of the same areas.

Cindy, I have mixed emotions about social media in general but as it pertains to the arts, when you create a page like that you're hoping for someone to come to YOU. You might find better success by going directly to the source. Be the aggressor and reach out. Action is everything. Just my two cents.
Social media ain't the answer - get out there, mix & mingle. Eye-to-eye is the best (and only approach in my book).

I recommend Script Revolution and alike...most of my stuff's there...
Hello Cindy. I have created a FaceBook Page for my Professor When screenplay. It has a small following but I haven't put a lot of effort into the page, so far. I don't expect Producers to find my page ...but I do intend Crowdsourcing, when I am ready to go. I recommend (if you haven't already done so) reading Richard Botto's CrowdSourcing book. A FaceBook page is just one arrow in your quiver. Go for it! Wishing you every success.
For potential distribution and sales partners, a facebook page doesn't do much for them. If its for a very visual piece where you have visuals of the world you are trying to build (concept artwork, storyboards, teaser trailer, VFX test footage/renders etc.) then a website is an easy way to showcase your supporting materials.

I second those singing the worthy praises of Script Revolution. Another great site to post your scripts and for useful all-around information.

Thanks for the kind shoutouts for Script Revolution. It means a lot. Remember to keep shaking every tree you have time to shake. Something like a Facebook page might feel silly to some but, if it's between putting some time into that or aimlessly scrolling on Instagram, go for it. We can connect with people in the strangest ways.

Is that right? Is it because you
don’t raise questions for debate?
Or because I taught you everything
you know?
MICHAEL
Some of that might be true. But I’mnot the one who doesn’t know how to
use Facebook.
ROY
Is that how we’re going to winagainst the terrorist? Facebook?
They chuckle.

I’m the “write a letter to someone”kind of guy. Even the internet
can’t find me up here.
Ohhh, you meant it the other way around...sorry Cindy!

Thanks for the input, folks. I was trying to think outside the box when it came to marketing my script. When I worked for PBS, my bosses were always pushing me to think outside the box. Although, to be honest, sometimes my ideas were too much out of the box for them. I'll check out Script Revolution.
Great to see you on Script Revolution, Cindy, and thanks for becoming a Rockstar. Your profile looks great.
The nice thing about retirement is that I can write anytime I want, take as long as I need, and not worry about money coming in.
