credit cards and ask crew if they accept Apple pay, Venmo, Paypal.

Funding for short films is pretty much nonexistent.

Usually they are self financed with a lot of favors in addition, unless you're able to pull of some sort of deal.

Two years ago a festival wanted us to shoot promo video for them but didn't have much funds so we worked out a deal where we created a short film around the promo video and in staid of shooting one day and only having a promo, we shot for two days and got a short out of it. The costumes and locations were already rented and all they had to do was ask their people to help an extra day and pay us for transport and food. Worked out great in the end.

So I guess it's all up to ingenuity.

Good luck with your film. :)

Like Leya said there is not much interest in funding short films since they don't really play anywhere accept at film festivals, youtube, etc. Most of the streaming services aren't interested in short films.

But that doesn't mean they don't have a purpose. They usually serve as some sort of showreel or proof of concept for something where you're trying to show what you've done or find funding for something that will make money to the person who finances your project.

Of course there are exceptions. One of our local streaming services does buy shorts sometimes, especially if they're documentaries or as part of a TV series or something.

Sometimes you can get lucky and find a way to get someone to sponsor your short film as part of a project or compensation. But I guess these are rear cases.

For us the good news is that we can cover most of the positions of the crew and own most of the basic gear and work with people who can lend us stuff that we need.

Also we're always learning and you can always find people who are willing to help out as long as everyone has fun and it's a funny thing but a lot of people who work in the film industry in our parts doesn't actually work on films but more commercials and when something interesting comes along like a film, sometimes you can get someone really experienced, with gear that they bring a long just because the feel the need to work on a film (granted doesn't happen often).

By the way where can we find out more about your film and good luck with production.

Thank you everyone…I’m working with a filmmaker in Atlanta and although I said it’s a short film it’s actually a full length script… it turns out! He’s going to do a trailer so as soon as that’s done I’ll post it here! Thank you all again

That's great! Congratulations.

I wish you all the best with getting funding and the producing it.

Mister Lou

Best to you and your project. It's a beast. Getting a short film funded requires research and crowdsourcing - getting it out into the public eye and presenting them with "whys and hows." Stick with it!

congratulations
