How to understand the creative framework or Creative strategy of any OTT platforms?

Indian subsidiary of a major OTT streaming platform stood me up for last 6 months and wrote back that my content does not fit in their creative framework, but they loved the story. How do one learn the creative strategy/framework of an OTT platforms to pitch the kind of content they are willing to commission?

Does such things happens everywhere or just in India?

Hi Nitin Shashindran that's a great question. My only experience was a pitch to Peacock here in the U.S. that was also a bit confusing. They requested my script then gave me a one-sentence response that my topic could be "divisive" and didn't elaborate. My script is about video games, so... not controversial. I hope that's not par for the course! My suggestion is to check out some of the webinars on this site - I've already learned a lot. The Netflix Television Pitch workshop was especially helpful - https://www.stage32.com/webinars/on-demand/2661874369453629862/1172. (I'm not paid to say that, haha)

Are there other shows/films on that network that you would say are comparable to yours? When you pitch a project, typically you include "comparisons" - are any of those on that channel? Find a few that are! If not, go to the channel of those "comparisons" and see if those are more receptive to your project. Just a thought ;-)

I did all my research about the comparable content streaming on those networks before curating teh specifics from out bank. We did pitched projects based on these analysis, yet they wrote back "The movie does not fit in their creative strategy"

I understand these strategies and algorithms are diversified as per their data analysis and subscriber base, but "liking the content yet not fitting in their framework" is something needs to be swapped with "We like the movie, but in this quarter we are most certainly accepting the proposals from the following genres"

I am unable to see any harm in such standardizations, at least they'll receive relevant pitches to curate.

Hope these things get better with time. Thank you for sharing you thoughts, much appreciated and stay amazing.
