Just found out a script I submitted through Stage 32's Open Writing Assignments just advanced to the next round of consideration at Blumhouse! I'm a horror writer -- not to mention, a HUGE Blumhouse fan -- so this is pretty surreal.
Everyone get in on these OWAs!

Bravo Dude!
What happened to owa job? Did blumhouse pick a writer and pay money?
That’s great! Congrats
That's great Daniel LoBrace . I only found about OWAs this week!
What's the logline for this? Congrats, Daniel!
Killer! Congrats on advancing. Tossing some good vibes out there for ya. Hope they reach out for a meeting.

@Dan, they ended up passing on the script because it had plot devices similar to a film they had released last year. Unfortunate, but that's how the game goes sometimes!
@Lindbergh, we ended up doing a pretty hefty re-write on this. The new logline is:
"A working class couple get the dream opportunity to start their own BnB business in an idyllic beach town when a wealthy benefactor cuts them a deal on her old family manor, but they soon realize there’s a very sinister reason the home came at a discount."

So they didn't pay money? I am confused by "OWA". Was Blumhouse looking for original specs to make a movie, or looking for a writer to write their idea?

Hi Dan, Blumhouse was looking for original screenplays to produce for this OWA. If an exec is looking for a writer to write an idea, it will say so in the OWA description, and ask you to submit writing samples.
