Introduce Yourself : What's next? by Guen Manlunas

What's next?

Hello everyone!

Been thinking for years now about how to get started in the field of scriptwriting and the film industry. I've written a script and I don't have someone to give me notes about my written script because no one has ever read it and I don't know many people who are knowledgeable in that field.

.

I've written a script, so what's next? How can I pitch it? How would I know if it's any good? Youtube videos about scriptwriting and movie analysis are a big help for me so far. From here, I really don't know how to proceed to the next step because I don't know the next step.

This is the reason why I joined Stage 32. To learn or to talk from people from the industry or from people who have a lot of experience in this industry.

Help me out?

Other than what you can do here, at wescreenplay.com you can get your script read and get notes, or they even have a first page review for free.

The blacklist is always a good option. You have to pay for it, but you'll get professional feedback and the scripts that do well get into the hands of the people that matter.

Rob Jones

You should find places like coverflyx, zoetrope, reddit screenwriting to find people to read your script, you might have to trade feedback with someone. You should keep writing and try to move on to something else for now and come back to that for a rewrite after some notes.

John Fernando

Suggest you join an online screenwriting short course and workshop your script there. You'll get feedback and notes from the tutor. They ptobably won't have time to cover the whole script but it's a good place to start. Use what seems like established colleges rather than just dome guy.

Hi, Guen Manlunas. How are you doing?

Stage 32 has a lot of information and advice on writing scripts and pitching. You can check out the Screenwriting lounge, the blogs, and the webinars (some cost money, some are free). You can exchange scripts with people on Stage 32. That's a way to get notes.

I'll share screenwriting advice with you if you like. You're welcome to message me.

Gwen. I got coverage notes and feedback from readers here on Stage 32 for my screenplay, and they were extremely helpful, I learned a lot. The prices are very reasonable here and they give good, constructive feedback.

Thank you Jon Shalit for giving me a few notes and recommendations on my script!

Jon Shallit

I always work with a co-writer/ editor who is an expert ( cops for cop dramas, etc.)
