It's no secret that industry in the Southeast USA, specifically Atlanta, has been booming for many years now. In fact, Georgia led the way back to safe productions during the pandemic (starting with Tyler Perry Studios). I was interviewed on the subject of moving to Atlanta recently by Casting Networks. Enjoy!

Hey Matthew! Love Atlanta, and you are correct... the industry is booming there!
Sometimes it's better to be the BOOM. ;)

So, would be interesting to try and relocate there? Just wondering, because even here in Spain rumours about Atlanta have arrived.

I tend to advocate for moving to a smaller market before trying to move to LA or NY if you don't already have the connections to launch yourself immediately in larger markets.

Laura, I certainly can’t answer that for you. Moving across an ocean is a very personal decision. What I will say is that sometimes actors move from LA or NY, expecting they will come to Atlanta and immediately dominate, simply because they used to be in that big market. What inevitably happens is they realize it’s still an uphill battle. You WILL experience a huge uptick in number of auditions (it’s common to get 3-5 a month for TV/film alone), but since we are a self-tape market (since 2012, waaaaay before the pandemic), it will take awhile for the local CDs to get to know you.
