The script for the pilot episode of my TV series concept, Bayou Noir, entitled "Made in Louisiana" just placed in the quarter-finals of the Reno-Tahoe Screenplay Contest. Semi-finals are supposed to be announced today, and finals/winners later in the month. While I'll be happy even being a quarter-finalist, I'm hoping that the judges thought even more highly still of my series concept, storytelling abilities, and character creation, and I'll wind up in the semi-finals, or even higher. We'll see what happens, though...

Thanks to every one for the congrats and good wishes! Unfortunately, I didn't make the finals, but hey -- in this biz you learn to appreciate every leg up on things that comes your way, big or small!

@Ryu Reeves, thanks! And here's wishing you good luck in the competition -- even if you're only a Quarter-Fnalist or get an Honorable Mention, it's still something (most contests have more than 1,000 entries), and in the end it all works in your favor!

Thanks! The wild thing is Kane Hodder (Jason Voorhees) is one of the judges so I'm terrified in 1'000 different ways!

Thanks, Maurice and Shellie! And I agree with you, Maurice, especially because any positive recognition you can get for your work is potentially one step closer to seeing it go from page to screen!

Placing in competitions, one: tells you that your work is excellent and marketable; two, it gives you confidence.

Kevin Dobbs, I agree on both counts! I've also gotten feedback from several script coverage reviews, both as a part of a contest I entered and as a result of me engaging the services of a reviewer on my own, and have been told that both my script and my series concepts are "winners", and that basically all I need to do is find the right producer who sees that as well. So far I've had no luck, but I'll never give up either, because I totally believe in the series concept I've created.

Tim Boese, I didn't win -- I finished in the semi-finals. So far, I have two semi-finalist and one finalist placing to my name with that script.

Christopher, is there somewhere I can read this script.

Jed, thanks for asking. The answer is "Yes...and no." By that I mean that I have an account on inktip, com, and I did upload the Bayou Noir pilot script to it. However, I and my wife are retirees, living off of Social Security and pension, which unfortunately in the current economic climate means we've had to cut back on things, which for me included my Inktip premium membership (I got over a hundred views of my logline, but only one of my script, so as you can see, it wasn't proving to be very cost effective). Things may change in the future, but considering we're probably going to have to move this spring or summer, plus other considerations, I wouldn't bank on it right now.

Hi Christopher, I & wife are in same economic situation. "Golden Years. B,S. You can have one FREE UPLOAD on Ink Tip and swap them around as much as you want. but you probably know that. There are a bunch of things I'd like to take advantage of here on STAGe32 but SS doesn't pay enough for me to afford. Good luck with all, including move.We can't afford to move and apparently are here for duration. Best, Jed.
