Introduce Yourself : Hello All!! by Tryphena Wade

Tryphena Wade

Hello All!!

My name is Tryphena Wade. I'm an actor/writer/producer based in LA (pandemic transplant from NYC!!). Most of my career has been theatre based but I've recently pivoted into more film work. I'm at the tail end of the editing process for a short film that I wrote, starred in, and executive produced (yeah, many hats!!) The next step is film festivals and developing a pitch for a series!! I'm an experienced actor (19 years) but a very new screenwriter and producer so I'm looking forward to connecting, learning, and adding value where I can!\

Kenneth McClintock

Hi Tryphena, welcome to Stage 32. I'm sure your experience as an actor will help with your screenwriting. Is the pitch you'll develop based off the short film? Or a separate idea?

Debbie Elicksen

We are excited to have you as a part of our Stage 32 family. As Kenneth said, absolutely, when one is creative, skills are transferable.

Tryphena Wade

Yes, Kenneth! I'm thinking of developing the short into a series so the pitch will be based on that. But first I gotta learn how to write and pitch a series!! LOL

Maurice Vaughan

Welcome to the community, Tryphena. And welcome to screenwriting and producing.

Kenneth McClintock

Hi Tryphena, I cannot recommend reading screenplays highly enough to fast-track your journey. For the last few years I've made it a goal to read a screenplay a week. It's not much compared to what some people read, but it is a worthwhile practice. As far as learning about writing and pitching a series, there's a few places you could start. John August has a great website with lots of great information, including the Scriptnotes podcast--but the thing that may be most useful is his library, where he hosts a bunch of screenplays, including some pitch documents and series outlines. You can find those documents here: https://johnaugust.com/library. Another useful repository of pitches/outlines/etc from another working screenwriter is Javier Grillo-Marxuach's website here: http://okbjgm.weebly.com/downloads.html. Best of luck!

Hi Kenneth! Thank you so much for the wealth of information. I'll look into the resources you mentioned!

Kevin Hager you might want to make a post about the help you're seeking. Perhaps someone will be able to guide you better.

Marguerite Faure

Lovely to meet you! I'd love to know about what you've enjoyed most about acting and how acting helps you in the screenwriting process?

Kevin Hager

Only spec scripts I need help in getting into scripts.

Josiah Bhola Hillaire

Nice to meet you

Kevin Hager

I saw on Notifications a post from Elizabeth Olsen. Was that really from Elizabeth Olsen?

Maurice Vaughan

It's spam, Kevin Hager. I reported the account to Stage 32. You (and anyone) can report spam to support@stage32.com. Stage 32 is fast about deleting spam accounts.

William Schumpert

Spam aside- welcome to Stage 32!

Kevin Hager

So it was fake and not Elizabeth Olsen.

Lisa Lee

Welcome, Tryphena! How are you enjoying film work compared to the theatre-based work you were previously doing?

Tryphena Wade

Hi Marguerite Faure, I truly love storytelling and feeling like I've truly transformed in a performance. My screenwriting is still very new so I'm not quite sure how my acting has helped just yet. LOL

Tryphena Wade

Thank you Lisa Lee. I'm really enjoying film work! I feel like a big kid, learning and soaking up everything I can. And I absolutely love being on set. I still love theatre and always will. But the nuanced differences are exciting to me!

Maurice Vaughan

What was your favorite play to be in, Tryphena Wade?

Shellie Schmals

Hi @Tryphena - so nice to meet you and excited to hear all about what you've got going on! Congrats on your recent successes.
