This has been a few weeks in the making, but today I was employed to write a feature-length screenplay. I used my pilot script as a writing sample. I just got the first installment payment, so it's official! Yay. :-)

Thanks! Christopher, I just got confirmation yesterday and they sent me my first payment today, so I haven't started writing yet. I'm going to start by watching some films that we discussed, that are similar in theme.

Nighter Fire Heart, I had actually submitted my pilot script for coverage through Stage 32 and received a double recommend, so I posted about that on Facebook. An old friend from high school sent me a message asking if he could read my script. He said he had a treatment for a screenplay, so we swapped. I gave him notes on the treatment and he asked if I would be available to write a script from his treatment. He actually has investors (he has no idea how extraordinarily rare that is) and said he could pay me. I gave him a price based on WGA minimum and 10 minutes later he texted me that he had the money! It's very bizarre! Not at all the way things generally work. But I guess it goes to show that social media is a powerful tool to get yourself and your projects noticed. Fortunately, it's a cute story and I have lots of ideas to make it even better.

Tim Bragg, I didn't find it through Stage 32, but I did attract the job by posting on social media that I'd received a double-recommend on my pilot script through Stage 32, so it definitely contributed.
