Screenwriting : … by Carmen Ferreira

Carmen Ferreira

Hey It’s a bit distressing that I get little/no response, probably for I entitled myself “student”… Well, that doesn’t mean I’m not creative or that I am unable to write. That means I am starting a professional career, cause I write poems, songs and thesis from a very young age in two different languages. I have no experience with screenwriting, but I happen to have a great story and for that I would like to team up with another professional, who’s experienced. However, that doesn’t mean they will be doing everything. There’s no better school than theory and practice together! Just saying!

Hi Carmen Ferreira, I think you've come to the right place to meet experience professionals and learn more about screenwriting. In addition to meeting new people on Stage 32, I also recommend our screenwriting education. We have a ton of fantastic online education on screenwriting from industry professionals that I encourage you to check out here: https://www.stage32.com/education?search=screenwriting

Hi, Carmen Ferreira. I think one thing that'll help you get responses is adding more things to your bio. You could tell about your poems, songs, and thesis from a very young age in two different languages, that you're new to screenwriting, your experience, your goals, your favorite genres to write, etc.

Carmen Ferreira

Thanks, Maurice! Good point! I haven’t thought about that! :)

Thanks, Nick! I’ve emailed someone about the courses, but never got an answer. However, I am enrolled in a good one at NYFA! I just thought I could also do something over here to mix a little bit! I don’t want to sit here, do my homework and watch the time goes by. I have a story that I want to tell everybody about. Why do I have to wait one year (my course lasts that long) for that? Why can’t I team up with an experienced screenwriter to bring to life my story, just for I am a student? This place is full of nice and experienced people. It has to have one who’s willing to allow me to tag along and I’m sure that experience is going to be just as meaningful as being in class learning how to build a script, cause that would be really creating something! I’m sure each of you here felt that sparkling when you started! :D

Carmen Ferreira

To the Russian guy: sorry, I don’t know your name :) Thanks! I have that. Believe me, I literally write since I was 6 years old (I’m 50), I’ve created/edited small “movies” with children in Brazil, I’ve written a couple of stories and a comic book when I was teenager. I am learning and bringing my story from my mind to the paper and the sensation is amazing! Writing is my life since always, so it’s natural and intuitive for me. No degree or Workshop will give me the essence I have within me that I can create amazing things with my creativity and my words! :) I am just happy to be here and maybe I bit anxious to get started! Haha

Stephen Fife

Interested to hear your story. I love a good story. I’ve written a few collaborations and done some writer-for-hire. I also write poetry and songs! Happy to say that I’ve survived as a writer for longer than you’ve been alive.

Carmen Ferreira

Hey Stephen - I do believe I have a great action fantasy story that would give a terrific movie! However, it’s been tough to write out of intuition, cause even having the essence of writing (in Portuguese we call it “dom”) I don’t have the experience and not doing things properly is already a step ahead for failure. I don’t do things to be just “good”. I want more. I want it to be a great story that will even change people’s life. Lol

An Action Fantasy story sounds great, Carmen Ferreira.

Since you're new to screenwriting, check out the Screenwriting Blogs (www.stage32.com/blog/tags/screenwriting-25). Especially this blog for up-and-coming screenwriters: www.stage32.com/blog/the-questions-up-and-coming-screenwriters-need-to-a...

Carmen Ferreira

Thanks, Maurice - I’ve been reading some of them already. :)

I need to find a local screenwriter to team up with me, but the ones willing to connect are too far and the closest ones that I’ve checked are not even active members, according to their profiles… lol

Alexander Benra

Hi Carmen, I like your enthusiasm. I think you will find people here who like to work in a team. I dont have the connections and experience myself (just a little bit of childrens books writing). I am looking forward to read from you and your entrance in the business!

Maurice Vaughan

You're welcome, Carmen Ferreira. Keep an eye out for new NY screenwriters who join Stage 32. People join all the time. Like during Introduce Yourself Weekend. :)

Carmen Ferreira

Thanks, Alexander! It’s going to be superb, cause when I do something is to be memorable, or I don’t do it at all! Lol

I might have found two screenwriters to team up, and of course I’m going to post our updates here!

I am super happy to be here, to have found my cup of tea (writing TV stories) and to have the beautiful story that I have for everyone to see and change their perspectives about life!

Carmen Ferreira

Maurice, I do that :)

I might have found two of them. Let’s see! I’m super excited!

Thanks!
