Hey y'all- I've been a member for a few months now, but I've never jumped in here to say hi yet. I'm a lawyer by day, but finally have thrown myself back into my creative habits for the first time in years. I've had a couple screenplays which have done well enough in contests that I'm starting to want to focus more of my attention on this side of my life.
For writing, I'm mainly a genre guy. Elevated horror, sci-fi, and comedy (usually a mix of all). And as a gay guy, I enjoy writing queer storylines. Other than screenwriting, I'm active in the LA improv scene (mostly UCB, thinking about starting to do stuff at the Pack Theater), and am also interested in folks who are looking to make their own low-budget content.
For what I'm looking to get out of this community- I'm always happy to meet folks working in similar creative areas. I'm happy to exchange notes on scripts, or just build out my creative network a bit more. (And, shamelessly, I'm also happy to expand my entertainment law/production network as well!)

Welcome, Brendan Roberts! Glad you decided to jump in. This is a great community to network with. Be sure to add your loglines for your scripts. And kudos for being a part of the improv scene. That's a great skill to have for screenwriters.

Hey, Brendan Roberts. I write Horror too. I've heard about Elevated Horror, but I've been having a hard time finding a clear definition of it online.

Maurice Vaughan me too, Maurice. Brendan Roberts can you help us with a definition? Is it ‘high-concept’ horror? Or am I missing the point?
