Just a little motivation for you. Keep going. There are going to be so many people who just don't see your vision, who don't get it. If you sincerely believe you're great at what you do, and, more...
I wouldn't say "the readers are clueless, that's why they're readers," a lot of producers in production companies started as readers. That readers pass on almost all scripts, indeed has to do with them being afraid of losing their job when they pass on a script the producers don't like; producers are afraid of liking that one sctipt that reaches their desk because when they pitch it to management and they don't like it, it could be their heads too.
QT can say whatever he wants because he made it. Made it as a global name with his first feature movie.
How quickly the career narrative changes without mentioning Harvey Weinstein as QT's main backer/financier. HW made a lot of nobody talent into global names
Great share, Geoff Hall. There are so many scripts out there, sometimes a writer needs to do something wild or "out there" in their script to make it stand out. Just be clear/don't be confusing.
Dan MaxXx that still leaves me with a little hope, Dan. I’m starting at a late entry point in life, but if I can make a few films and pen a clutch of TV series, that will be good enough for me!
Geoff Hall right on, sir! The ppl in my circle who became somebodies in show business- they didnt wait for permission, they got off couches and got their hands dirty physically. Nobody came from money, just plain hustle.
It still leaves you needing to write the equivalent of "Natural Born Killers' and 'True Romance'. Once you have scripts of that quality, then -- then -- you can start to criticise studio readers and others who overlook your material.
M LaVoie I am not sure if that was different back then but I wonder how the reasons changed, in particular the decline of attention span (including my own unfortunately).
I hear from folks my age that their kids are unable to watch movies without fast-forwarding all the time. This is anecdotal evidence but I have a hard time imagening a movie like ALIEN being produced for the screen theese days. I also noticed that trailers have become shorter in past years.

Dan MaxXx yeah Dan, but he started from nowhere with no connections, so that gives some of us here a little hope…

Geoff Hall lots of filmmakers started from nowhere: Scorsese, DuVernay, Spike Lee, David Sandberg, Ryan Coogler.
Someone at Sundance Institute believed in QT and he workshopped Reservoir Dogs.

Maurice Vaughan absolutely, Maurice. Be consistent in what you do. It shows you know what you’re doing.

Struggle is real and good...but once you've passed 45-50 mark don't expect Tarantino's career...guy's already been a Rockstar in his early 30s...

Christian Cujovic That's so sad. I can't imagine fast-forwarding through "Alien".

Kiril Maksimoski Hi Kiril, we don’t have to have a career like QT, we just have to have a career!
Perhaps you're aiming too high referencing QT? He's one movie from retirement.
I gofunded a new movie by Hal Hartley; the dude has been making indie films for 40-years.
Very interesting Dan MaxXx
