Send me positive vibes

Hey everyone! I'm tackling a variety of issues in my current passion project. I'm satisfied with my research. I've already made tremendous progress. This next topic, however, is focused on the experience of Black Hispanics in Puerto Rico. It's a complicated subject that concerns being mixed-race and dealing with stigma. Like anything that deals with race, it requires nuance and empathy. So, I'd appreciate some encouragement. SEND ME GOOD VIBES!

Bill Albert

Good luck, Chiuba. Make it happen.

Jim Boston

Chiuba, you've got this! Here's wishing you tremendous success on that project (and others to come)!

Maurice Vaughan

Congratulations on making tremendous progress, Chiuba E Obele! I've never seen a movie about the experience of Black Hispanics in Puerto Rico. Sounds intriguing! Best to you with your project!

I love this idea Chiuba E Obele. What's the format, documentary or a feature? Either way, to me it feels like material which could find grant opportunities because of the unique and specific nature. There was cool documentary I saw not long ago about the first professional female Rugby team from New Guinea. There were plenty of stigmas about this new attempt to have females playing the sport in & for the Country, and tons of challenges for all of the women on the team. It was so different with a unique POV. I'm pretty sure significant grant money helped that project get made. Anyway, sending lots of great vibes out to you and best of luck with it!

Being of Puerto Rican descent (my parents were born there), I'm naturally curious as to how this is handled. Except for an aunt, most are not alive now but I did have black Puerto Ricans in my family. After my grandfather passed, my grandmother remarried a black man and from there my Aunt Rosie came. My grandfather was a white spaniard which means all of her half-brothers/sister were white Puerto Ricans so I'm interested in what POV takes. All the best to you.

Dustin Richardson

Sending you positive vibes, Chiuba E Obele. That sounds like a fantastic project, with stories that must be told. I come from a mixed-race family, and we often talk about how there aren't enough conversations about people who are 50/50. We loved seeing Leguizamo Does America last year and the points he made with those he interviewed on this subject. Go out there and get it done! I'm sure it will be a poignant and powerful journey.

Hey Chiuba...I like it! They always think there not African, but they are! Do this my brother, and if you have some time, please check my story line for my 10-episode project. "Warriors of MA / The Killing of Saiva Ilwanta" I'm looking for a director/ producer / the whole group that I'll need to get this project off the grown. It's on my profile.... Be great!

Chiuba E Obele, just the fact that you recognize it requires nuance and empathy is like 70% of it. Awareness is so so key when tackling complicated subjects, so good on you for knowing you need to be sensitive.

Chiuba E Obele I’m sending as many good vibes and positive energy as I can muster! May you weave your way through those intricacies like a master.

Chiuba E Obele

Thanks, everyone! And thank you Dustin Richardson and Leonardo Ramirez for sharing your personal stories. DT Houston this is a feature, believe it or not.

Maurice Vaughan

You're welcome, Chiuba E Obele.

Nice work so far on the project, Chiuba. It seems that you have a productive formula in place in doing your research on the subject. You may consider having conversations with members right here on Stage 32 of that descent and the concerns and trials that they might have faced. Opening up dialogues with them might give you some terrific insights, and real life experiences to use in your project. Be up front with your intentions and clear about the conversations, and you may find a wealth of information in your own Stage 32 backyard. Good luck and keep plugging away sir.
