Introduce Yourself : Belgian screenwriter after hours by Sofie Van Den Waeyenberg

Sofie Van Den Waeyenberg

Belgian screenwriter after hours

Hello everyone

I am Sofie from Flanders in Belgium. I have always loved movies and television. My studies and work have lead me into another direction, but I can't let go of the urge to write stories and of the dream to see them on the (big) screen. So I am working on that in my free time and since recently I have been educating myself here on Stage 32.

I'm eager to learn more about the craft and the business and getting to know like-minded people.

Have a nice day!

Matthew Kelcourse

Hi, Sofie. S32 is a great place to start. So many webcasts to help you on your way. Cheers.

Welcome to the community, Sofie Van Den Waeyenberg. It's great to meet you. What's one of your favorite movies?

Sofie Van Den Waeyenberg

Thanks Maurice Vaughan . One of my favourite movies in the style of what I see myself writing is Good Will Hunting. I enjoy watching many genres though, from blockbusters to more tender gems. What's one of your favourite movies?

Sam Robson

Hi Sofie do lovely to see someone based nearby - I'm English but based in the Netherlands and very much in the same boat as you juggling my writing round a job and family but having the urge to write down all the stories in my head!

Maurice Vaughan

You're welcome, Sofie Van Den Waeyenberg. Good Will Hunting is an incredible movie! I had the screenplay book way back. One of my favorite movies is The Truman Show. It's fun, Jim Carrey and Laura Linney are fantastic in it, and the movie deals with deep life issues.

Nick Phillips

Hello Sofie Van Den Waeyenberg! It's amazing how the urge to writer really calls to us, right? Glad to hear you're listening to it and creating your own stories!

Jason Mirch

Hi Sofie! Great to have you here. I completely appreciate the urge to write stories - even as you have to balance it with a 'day job'. That is the reality for a lot of writers who are juggling their time. Keep it up! And definitely lean on the community for support!
