Cool Video: Ben Affleck on AI

Ben Affleck, one of the smartest people in Hollywood, explains what's really going to happen with AI implementation in entertainment.

I think the things Ben Affleck mentioned are going to happen, Pat Alexander. I agree with him that AI can't write Shakespeare and AI can't do what actors can do in a room.

AI has an IQ of 200 now, that of a Stanford law graduate and will be up to and IQ of 1000 in 2 years or less then it will increase infinitum. I love Ben's work particularly, State of Play and the Accountant. Judging by the success of the new AI influencers, and assuming the tech will improve, I doubt an actor will be able to compete in the AI verse. Ben may have to be satisfied with royalties from his AI double. As for Shakespeare, he'll probably be the ghost in the machine.

Intelligence and emotional depth have been two separate qualities forever. I have no doubt AI will end up smarter than most. But there will never be a replacement for emotional depth so I believe there will always be writers and actors and artists and some may use AI as a tool to enhance their work or, certainly, hasten thier research. WHat can I say - I believe in humanity above all.

I think that no matter what, we're always going to want stories that are different to the norm. At some point AI eats itself. It's doing new stuff now, because it's fresh. Once it's just repeating more of the same stuff, we're going to want something different. But it'll sort of be like shooting on film vs digital. It's not common, but it has its place! I do think, though, that using AI as a tool to make it faster for us to tell those unique stories, is a thing!

Rebecca James

Sam Sokolow Ai has already proven to be more compassionate than most humans. Think about how much men fall in love with their first car! lol!

Rebecca James

I like to think that humans want stories that are different from the norm but human nature seems to prove otherwise. The defending of the norm seems to be our priority thanks to our limiting beliefs and even more so now with our limited attention spans.

Sam Sokolow

We have barely started to fugure out the human brain so how could we possibly build one? Could AI create some material that resonates - seems plausible at this point - but could AI make ANORA? Or MOONLIGHT, for that matter? I just don't see it happening and neither do my friends in the AI game. It's more of a tech/stock bubble - which they always need - than an existential threat IMHO. Not discounting its potential or use. I just don't believe it will ever be able to tell the most interesting, complex and compelling stories. We all must keep creating!
