About Lee

. I’m a self-taught screenwriter, I could never afford any official screen writing education so I read scripts, as many screen writing books I could find, listened to hundreds of hours of podcasts, joined writers groups and learned from all the mistakes I made while writing some seriously bad scripts. I’m still learning (who isn’t?) But finally, I have written something I can be proud of. My screenplay ‘The Burial’ got a “strong recommend” verdict from the Raindance script coverage service and a great score from their short script competition. Additionally, none of my friends or family know anything about film and so I’m here to connect with film makers and writers in London to gain experience and hopefully find a tribe.
I’m currently working on:
- An ensemble drama feature/series based in the same ‘universe’ as my short ‘The Burial’
- A biopic about a world famous rock band and the tragic story of their original lead singer.
- An elevated Sci-Fi family drama about a present day family in crisis, who suddenly wake up in the distant future. They are in a facility that provides alternative virtual lives as therapy and not everyone is who they thought they were. Will they choose their new/old lives in the ‘real’ world? or are the relationships and loving bonds they formed in the virtual world real, and worth fighting for?

Unique traits: I grew up in a huge council estate just outside South London. I have real experience with gritty and very English working/benefit class environments. Having personally known, ex gangsters, armed robbers, football hooligans, drug addicts, mental illness, relative abject poverty, violence, mugging, bullying, single parent family, a lack of male role models and lots in between… I have a deep well ;-D

The Burial Budget: $0 - $100K | Family Drama “The Burial” is a 30-page social issue drama about a 28-year-old drug addict, who after being arrested finds out his Mum has died. He has about two weeks before he must face the magistrate; so, he must find his sister and get her to the funeral. But she has been sleeping rough and he doesn’t know where she is. It’s a story about grief, addiction, poverty, and disfunction… and how sometimes, the rules just don’t apply.
