A group of at-risk juvenile delinquents are sent to a military-style boot-camp as a last chance to turn their lives around.
SYNOPSIS:
"Hitting Rock Bottom" is written along the lines of films like "Freedom Writers, Gridiron Gang, Dangerous Minds, and "Remember the Titans." A true story about a hard-nosed retired police sergeant and the U.S. Army who attempt to save juvenile delinquents from a life of crime, gang, and drug/alcohol abuse in a newly created boot camp academy. A former student is visited on death row in San Quentin Prison for killing a Highway Patrol Officer. He encourages his former teacher to continue to help his newly charged juvenile offenders sent to a military-style academy he formed. The teacher and academy stressed order, structure, and discipline and push-backs occurred. The students through voice-over and re-enactment, describe the various dysfunctional families they live in. Together they begin to notice a change in their outlook on life and become a family.
