My name is Mary Kay. This site calls me "Mary," but I'll even answer to "Hey, you." I am an introvert who grew up outside of Pittsburgh with sitcom parents. They drove me to write. A lover of sketch and observational comedy, I began writing over 25 years ago and several of my scripts were previously optioned, including one that was in development (but didn't get made). When Hollywood stopped producing what I loved to write, I took a detour into the food writing world, and to focus on a successful career in staff development. I can't be a starving artist, because I enjoy food and wine and travel. I love to work out, and I am the best iteration of myself, in spite of the fact that I've become high maintenance. I have a self-deprecating sense of humor. I earned a master's degree in management and leadership, and I am certified in personality typing. I am a psychology geek interested in criminal personality theory, and a Golden Retriever mommy. They totally boss me around. I am also a professional recipe developer for a spice line, and I've competed in the World Food Championships. My recipes have been featured in "Taste of Home" magazine and cookbooks, and in "Country Woman." Inspired to give it another try because of the new avenues for production, I took up screenwriting again during the pandemic. I wrote feverishly. I now have a few new, great projects to share including a murder mystery/crime miniseries (Hallmark Movie and Mysteries type), and a rom-com which received great coverage (not Hallmark type). I am currently turning one of my romance scripts into a novel. I live to write. Ask me about my other work. Available for write-for-hire. Non-WGA. Website: . Follow me on Instagram at MKWrites2. Publicist: Danie Cortese Entertainment. Seeking management.
