With over 50 Years experience as a corporate Chef, including the last 16 years in a retirement community, I was forced to retire due to Rheumatoid Arthritis. I’ve always preached that 12 hours is only half a day in the restaurant industry, you get the other half to yourself. I’ve tried to cut down to 8 hours/day, yeh, right, even with RA.
The senior community needing care will rise dramatically, very soon, as the baby boomers ALL reach retirement age. I have been Involved in the residents lives over the years (seen many come and go). Empathy and sympathy are paramount. The ensuing drama and dry comedy will be eye-opening for most as the action is funny, sad, happy and unbelievable, you decide, I’m immune after so long. Most caregivers will relate.
Unique traits: I have always been a giver, hence my work in the senior living industry. I'm very good at judging people by looking in their eyes, sounds weird, but true.
