Garry Lawrence

My name is Garry Lawrence, and I was born and raised in the historic seaside town of Ayr in Scotland.

I came to writing a little later than most, which helps me bring real world experience to my work. I have an educational background in Psychology, and have worked in both the health and welfare sectors, all of which has given me a real insight into human behaviour and the genuine struggles faced by individuals in society.

I’ve won multiple awards for my writing, been a finalist in the Internationally renowned Bluecat Screenplay Contest, and been featured on the Blacklist website.

I’ve written screenplays in a variety of genres, from drama and comedy to thriller, and even once helped an author turn his music biopic into a screenplay. Horror has a special place in my heart however, as more than any other genre, the themes are truly universal. Horror allows you to tell bold narratives and take creative risks whilst addressing the important cultural and societal issues of our time.

Despite exploring different genres, the thread that unites my work, is complex, relatable characters embarking on journeys through engaging and entertaining stories.
