About Sylvia

Hi, I'm an emerging writer and former teacher from Québec, Canada. After spending several years working in communications, I followed my dream and became an English teacher. I spent 24 wonderful years teaching English as a second language to high school students before retiring in June 2019.

My journey into children's literature began with The Square-Eyed Raccoon book series, which was my first big writing adventure. Since then, I've written Galopin the Crow: How He Became King, Cody and His Magical Chessboard, and Tricolo: The Little Rabbit Who Wanted to Go Trick-or-Treating. I also created a coloring book, Animals with Personality, designed to help children learn through descriptive texts and illustrations.

Lately, my creative energy has been drifting toward screenwriting and storytelling for film. I've adapted and completed Galopin the Crow and Tricolo into screenplays, and I finished writing a drama feature titled She Feared to Say in 2024. I'm excited to explore this new path and share my work with a wider audience. Looking forward to connecting with others here on Stage 32!
