About Karen

Hello!
I am a cinephiliac who lives to Live in a Movie -- I grew up in the Wilds of Suburban New Jersey during the 1960's and 70's --
Lived in Paris and Israel -- and was lucky enough to become a journalist at Reuters and other places. As a journalist I was fortunate to be able to interview great filmmakers such as Krystof Kieslowski, Jean Jacques Annaud and Marcel Ophuls.

In 2014, on a whim, I posted on Stage 32 that I was in pre-production for my film: "Here's Lookin' at You, Kid", which was a Spoof of Casablanca and I got an overwhelming response. That's how it all started. I made that film and went to the Cannes Film Festival with it. (alright, it was just the short film corner but it was still Cannes!) and then I followed it up with "Lucky and the Pirates", an animated film that was an Homage to my dog -- and that also went to Cannes -- (Animaze). And then I made my documentary: "Fascination: Helena's Story" about a Holocaust survivor who is also a ballroom dancer.

I currently have a script that has been optioned: "Frannie and Bubbe" -- and I am also working on a children's musical.

Now enough about me -- I want to hear about you! xoxox

  • Hello Gorgeous

Hello Gorgeous Comedy HELLO GORGEOUS, which was a quarter-finalist in the 2004 Austin Film Festival -- is a bit of a spoof. It's a comedy about Murray, a schlemiel who has one passion in life -- Barbra Streisand, with whom he believes he has a true bond. He believes she speaks to him - through her movies - and through her songs. One day -- a la Wizard of Oz, he sets out to find her.
