You can see the latest posts in your subscribed topics by clicking the My Lounge subscriptions tab on your wall. Hey Jim, a few days ago we implemented a new privacy setting to give you the option of accepting private messages only from users within your network. Today, I discovered a bug with the way this option is set for new users. I just wanted to let you know that the bug is now fixed, so all members are now able to receive private messages from any other member (the default setting). If you'd like to receive private messages only from users within your network, you can change this setting here. Also, you can access your privacy settings at any time from the drop-down menu that appears when you hover over your profile photo in the upper right-hand corner of the page.

Brandi - I live in Charlotte too and was wondering what pilot contacted you. I have heard rumor on HBO production coming. Also, I'm a rigging grip, so let me know where the production office is and I might be able to help with preproduction rigging for the sets.

Hi Crystal - You're in the hotbed of the film industry right now. Atlanta has a 30% incentive package for film makers. It shouldn't be too hard to land a PA job. Look into Atlanta's Film Commission. They will have a listing of current and upcoming productions. PAs typically do not belong in a union. PAs are chosen from local residents because the production company will not pay housing, travel, etc. It would not benefit you to apply for work in another state unless you are willing to work as a local without those benefits. When you get a contact (probably an email address) send a note request to drop by to meet the UPM (Unit Production Manager) or the Production Supervisor. Get a name attached to these titles and do your best to locate the production office. Stop by without an appointment. Ask if they're in or too busy to meet. If no contact ask if its OK to drop by another time. Its always OK to drop by the production office so you should get a positive reply. Write down and/or remember names. While you're there get the production office phone number. Tell them you're reliable and a good organizer. Tell them your ultimate goal ie UPM, Producer's assistant, Director... or tell them you're here to learn more about film production. PAs don't get paid a lot. So you don't need to impress with lots of experience. Better just to be nice and interested. Don't forget to look into TV productions. TV is produced seasonally with a few months down each year. Checking in as they start each season will keep you in mind at a time when someone couldn't make it back. Once you land the job, tell them you know a great Key Rigging Grip and give them my number! Gretcen - Last year was my 5th and last season as Key Rigging Grip for Army Wives (ABC/Lifetime). I have returned to Charlotte. You might find it interesting that AW uses a different Director for every episode (13 episodes per season. AW is in Charleston. The Producer is John Kretchmer. Here you'll find projects in development that are seeking talent in the occupations you selected in your profile. So if you’re a screenwriter, you'll see projects in need of screenwriters. It’s the perfect tool for matching creative talent with suitable projects.

Lindsey- do you have a direction for what kind of behind the scenes work you desire. Grip? Electric? Wardrobe? Paint, locations... If you want to understand the orchestration of production, I suggest you start as a Production Assistant. They don't make much money but it's a good place to start. I'm in Charlotte working on Sleeping Around. We only have a couple of weeks left but contact me if you wouldlike a brief introduction to different departments and I'll see if it's cool with production.
