About J

JA Williams is a native of Los Angeles. James (JA) has worked in the film industry for over 30 years as a professional bodyguard. Working for such clients as Oprah Winfrey, Tom Hanks, Denzel Washington, Diana Ross, John Travoltal, and Michael Jackson just to name a few. His years of working with such talent and artists, traveling all over the world and observing humanity on a myriad of fronts has driven James's calling to produce films of passion and content. He never takes himself too seriously, for him the mission is greater than the man, and that mission is to connect the viewer to films which evoke thought and emotion in hopes of reconnecting a distorted view of how we look at one another and an attempt to re-value our truest treasures .

James and his wife formed Raking Leaves Productions in 2011. With no film school or formal training experience he began his passion journey with a hand held camera and a few trusting friends. From the genesis of creating film and building off each experience, his films have come to impact humanity on a global scale as he continues to cultivate his craft and tell stories of the human experience by writing, directing, and producing all his inspired works.

Raking Leaves Productions company's motto is "life creates film creates life”, a commitment that JA strives to bring forth in his films. Based in Los Angeles California as an independent film company RLP has produced several short films. Some of the more notable films are:

Palms
A film based on the true life adoption of his son and how he came into the lives of JA and his wife. ‘Palms’ received top honors and won for Best Short film at the 2013 International Family Film Festival. ‘

Tao of Simon
A short film addressing bullying and forgiveness. This film has been shown at several schools in the Los Angeles area (including a screening at USC) and has been used in social studies, educational curriculums, youth discussions, and social gatherings.

The Monarchs Whisper (finished script and feature film in Development)
A film addressing postpartum depression (PTSD) and suicide. (a pitch film has been produced to show the basis of this film).

The Sac Fly (finished script and feature film in Development/pitch phase)
This film is based on a true story of one man's response in a highly charged Racial community in Georgia. It looks at the current climate of where humanity at this very moment as this nation seems to now stand as a ‘divided states of America’. A short film and excerpt (pitch) have been produced to demonstrate a more exposing content to the heart of the film.

JA currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife and two children.
