About Yvonne

I have 25 years experience in producing and script editing drama for television. My background is in the theatre but I began working in television as a script editor on Eastenders, then developed long running drama series and serials for the BBC until I was asked to join Granada TV as a development script editor where I storylined and script edited the first regional soap entiteld Revelations, created by Russell T Davies. I script edited and storylined 3 series of The Ward and worked on other childrens dramas for CITV and then produced My Dads A Boring Nerd for CITV which won best childrens drama comedy of that year. Whilst at Granada, I ran storylining workshops for Coronation Street and then went to the BBC again, to produce Holby City series 2, my series of this huge medical show very popular in the UK, was nominated for BAFTA in that I turned the ratings around from 6 million to 9.6 million in the year I was producer. I then Exec Produced Crossroads for ITV and delivered a 5 million rating per week for this long running UK soap.. I set up SCRIPT ADVICE in 2007 to help writers write better television scripts, and develop and run my own workshops and short courses for clients including ScreenSkills, The Script Factory London, the National Film and Television School, Indie Training Fund, The Jersey Arts Trust and Europscript. I am now the designated trainer in all things story related for the two biggest long running medical shows on UK terrestrial channels - Casualty and Holby City. I designed the first of its kind Script Editing for Television course which is in its 3rd successful year training writers to understand the long form narrative better and is the go to course for anyone interested in script editing and script development. I also run a popular online Tv Writing School, and have writers working with me from all over the globe - most notably those in the UK and USA. My book Writing for Television, Series, Serials, Soaps is published by Kamera Books; is 5 star rated on Amazon and is a set text for two MA Screenwriting courses at London College of Communication and at Cardiff University.

Unique traits: I have worked for 25 years in script development and script editing but also have produced and also executive produced the longest running shows on UK terrestrial channels. I understand how television drama is made from the ground upwards. You come to me if you want to hone your tv writing voice from someone who has literally been there and done that.
