When I was nine years old, my family took a vacation to Florida. There, we visited an alligator farm. A man at that farm had a yellow snake draped around his neck. Many people surrounded him, petting his big snake. So I, too, petted the man's long snake. I turned to get my parents' attention, and show them the snake petting in which I was engaged. That was when the serpent licked my leg. That was the day I learned fear.

That is my story.
