About York

B.A. and B.A.(hons) English and M.A. (International Affairs) Long career in solo tenor vocal music and onstage in theatre, especially musicals. (just ask me! lol!)
For ten years, I've written first plays, then feature and TV scripts and now branching out into short stories and novels/novellas.
I've been a member of WGC since 2018.
My scripts have been competition quarter and semi-finalists a number of times. But my historical/biographical feature script "Kitty" (my own New Zealand mother's successful fight for legal equality in macho New Zealand) has been continuously optioned 2016-2025). My "I Love You, Oscar Wilde" historical drama feature script was also optioned 2016-2024 inclusive.
Please message me if you wish further info on these or other feature or TV scripts, including dramedy pilot: "Rare Vintages", low budget Xmas feature "Grace 'Til Christmas," biblical adventure pilot "The Holy Grail Voyage," and 1 hour historical TV drama, "Dressler Undressed" about old screen star Marie Dressler. Mine and award-winning novelist Ingrid McCarthy's 2024 WWII period romance/drama feature, "Anna's Shadow" finished Nov.'24.
I welcome any enquiries and look forward to chatting.

Unique traits: I Love researching and writing Victorian and Edwardian film scripts with theatre, art and early film elements. My first play then screenplay was "Cakewalk" about May Irwin, a vaudeville star who was the first to integrate all-white U.S. stages. Then came a one act play then 1 hour TV/MOW "Queen Marie (Dressler)", set in the early talkies era. After another one-act WWII play "Churchill in Peril" , I wrote a feature script "I Love You, Oscar Wilde", which made PAGE semi-finals and finals NSI Features First (Canada). After drafting a novel about Joseph of Arimathea's journey to Britannia with the Holy Family, called "Voyage of the Holy Grail" and then finished a TV pilot and bible for an ensemble, comedy limited series called "Rare Vintages" set in an long-term care home. Using the same long term care home characters, I finished a feature holiday drama called "Grace 'Til Christmas," then with award-winning novelist Ingrid McCarthy, finished a WWII drama/romance feature, "Anna's Shadow" in Nov'24 .
