About Adam

Adam grew up in Manhattan, went to public school, The Fieldston School and then graduated from Harvard University with Honors in Government and Political Philosophy, while starting at Quarterback for The Harvard Crimson and playing in the Harvard Jazz Band. He began writing at Harvard, and during summers, wrote script coverage for producers and for Miramax; and his first screenplay, “OTHER SIDES OF THE RIVER”, a ‘coming of age’ love story set at Harvard. Other early work was a saga based on his family’s journey from slavery to activism in The Civil Rights Movement, “RED, BLACK & BLUE”.

While developing as a writer, Adam quickly became known as an actor on many shows including “Living Single”, “Will & Grace”, “The Parkers” and in the EMMY winning NBC mini-series, “The Temptations”. He was best known and nominated for an NAACP Image Award for his leading role as ‘Nathan Hastings’ on “The Young & Restless”. More recent acting credits include “Scandal”, Royal Pains”, “Private Practice”; “Grey’s Anatomy”; recurring on “Heroes”, and films “Torn” (Winner - Rhode Island Film Festival), “Love Shack”, “Ocean’s 13” (w/Al Pacino), “Love’s Routine” (w/Willam Defoe) and “The Choir Director”, based on the NY Times Best selling novel.

In 2012, Adam directed the short film, “200 YEARS” for producer Rob Fried (Collateral, Rudy) and "SpiritClips"/"Feeln" and Hallmark. He is producing with Oscar Turner (COO Tyler Perry Studios & VP Financial Planning Paramount Pics.) “LIKE FATHER” in 2015, a father-son drama. Adam co-wrote, produced and starred in, “FORGIVENESS”, with Richard T. Jones & Robinne Lee, now in post-production. He adapted a romance novel by Michael Baisdon for Reuben Cannon Prod.; and original TV Movies for The Dreambuilder Foundation and Proctor & Gamble: “Just Passin’ Through” and “What Angles Fear”. Both MOWs won EMMYs for Regional TV. He was a producer and he won two consecutive Regional EMMYs for acting in both.

Adam was a senior writer on Vin Desil’s ground-breaking web-series, “THE ROPES”, available on Netflix. His original scripts garnering attention include “THE CITY”, centered around dynamic NYPD Detectives, an edgy political/crime thriller inspired by true events; “THE BROWN BOMBER”, the astonishing, meteoric rise of young Joe Louis, on the eve of WWII; and another cop drama, “KEEP IT BETWEEN US” is a tight, 6-character thriller and love triangle. “PADRE” is ‘desert-noir’, in which a handsome doctor from the city gets embroiled in the danger of a drug pathway, Texas border-town.

Adam’s original pilots include “WIN OR MISERY” – is a hard-hitting story following an intense, young, major college football coach, John Brown, juggling big-money boosters, the press, tragic, horrific events on campus; and “HIGH PRICE”, a passionate love story, set in high-powered L.A. between an entertainment mogul, Gavin Jackson, and the ‘woman he let get away’ - princess of L.A., daughter of the deceased, beloved Latino Mayor. After a tragic, scandalous fall from grace in the pilot, the show tracks Gavin Jackson executing his comeback.

Unique traits: Adam has an unusually broad-based background, including 20 years of professional acting onTV, film and stage; teaching in his own acting school - "ALW Acting Studios"; producing, directing and writing.
