Shot on low-end digital cameras with a Kickstarter funded budget of $8,000, this experimental short reveals in four evolving layers what a grown man discovers as he journeys through the house he grew up in. In the monologue style of "Swimming to Cambodia," the on-camera narrator peels back the layers of growing up in the home of German immigrants who collectively live with the specter of Nazi Germany and a father whose suicidal tendencies create deep disturbances. Exposing himself to the brutalities of his upbringing, the consequences of his father's suicide and his own affliction with cancer, the narrator drives himself ever deeper into an often harrowing personal truth as he attempts to discover relevance and meaning in his past.
