Advice On Table Read

Hi all, hope your projects are going well. I'm currently organising a table read for a new TV pilot. I've never organised one before and I was wondering if any of you had, and if you had any tips?

The script is 53 pages. I've worked out that I can cover all the parts with seven performers plus a read...

On second thought---it's too damn hot to stay in Phoenix even one more summer. I think I"m moving. I'd like to spend the summer on a lake somewhere....

Wendy Weisling, a quick question about your group. Do you have to have a synopsis and treatment in order to have your script read? Because I'm actually animating my own screenplays with A.I., so the o...

Screenwriting software

Hello everyone! Would you mind telling me which is your favourite screenwriting software? Are there any good ones for free? What do you think of Final Draft, is it worth the money? Thank you!

E Langley

FD 11 does this too but very infrequently. Set Auto Save on for a time you like between 3 and 60 minutes. I use 10 minutes, Ask Before Auto Save, off. Tools, Options, General.

Bradley Aaron

Thanks @E Langley! That was good tip. I just changed it to 3 minutes. You may have saved me a lot of heartache.

E Langley

Happy to help.

Film grants

Film up Stage 32 folk!!!! My question if anyone knows. I just connected with a grant writer and I would like to know what film grants are out there for film makers and screenwriters. Need a break from meeting with the typical investors for a while.

Brian Fire

I have a grant writer...I just need links to sites that have a list of those available for entertainment. I didn't ask him if he would teach me and I'm not looking to learn how to write them. My hands...

Exhausted

I'm at the point where I feel like throwing in the towel. I can't afford to keep doing festivals, can't afford to do pitches and can't afford to do movie short competitions. Pay pay pay pay and always the "We regret to inform you." A person can only be shot down so many times.. I think I'm there.

Ye Er

I understand. That's why this is so hard.

Robert Parera

I would rather fail than pay someone to listen to me. Once I heard a Guy say to someone, if your going to beat a dead Horse, have the common sense to change instruments once in a awhile.

Robert Parera

Ms Hu, I like you wit.

Sean Frasier

My experiences in the extreme heavy metal music community helped inspire a screenplay that changed my screenwriting luck, and informed a few of my other scripts as well. Stranger than fiction, as they say - and in heavy metal that couldn't be more true.

Jorge J Prieto

Not so much odd, but yes personal experiences and I wrote a supernatural based on a story / dream / premonition, my grandma told me when I was nine. I'm always listening, because even friends can provide you with so much story, that we as writers have stretch and twist to make it cinematic.

Anna Maria Elisa Manalo

I was a field investigator for the Mutual UFO Network. That's how I started writing grounded sci fi. I also write horror - most from personal experiences living in an old country and later as a paranormal investigator.
