I'm thinking of starting my comedy table writing group back up again,, here in Phoenix again this summer. (Might as well....it's too damn hot to do anything else. Lol.) We are called The Rising Phoenix Comedy Troupe. We don't meet every year, but when we do meet, it's pretty fun! On second thought---it's too damn hot to stay in Phoenix even one more summer. I think I"m moving. I'd like to spend the summer on a lake somewhere....

Wendy Weisling, a quick question about your group. Do you have to have a synopsis and treatment in order to have your script read? Because I'm actually animating my own screenplays with A.I., so the only person who is going to see the screenplay is me. I would just like to have a group of writers to listen to the 10 pages,, and give feedback.

FD 11 does this too but very infrequently. Set Auto Save on for a time you like between 3 and 60 minutes. I use 10 minutes, Ask Before Auto Save, off. Tools, Options, General.

I have a grant writer...I just need links to sites that have a list of those available for entertainment. I didn't ask him if he would teach me and I'm not looking to learn how to write them. My hands are busy working and developing my projects. Like writing scripts, grant writing is a specialty and if you want good results, instead of trying to wear too many hats, it's good to find someone who is solid at that job. The pricing depends on the what and the how many grants I am planning on having him write. I'll keep you posted.

I’ll inbox you the list of grants I found specifically for media. I wish more people in entertainment felt that way of trying to wear many hats. I’d rather be great at just screenwriting. Than listing myself as a writer, director, producer, editor, animator...and just be mediocre at each. Thanks for the advice

i appreciate you and i agree. What i have learned from being in the industry is a lot of folks let their egos dictate their work flow. Writing and developing your material is very time consuming. it’s smarter to not wear yourself out trying to wear other hats. be strong at one first. when you have meetings and folks are looking at what you are doing and judging you want to be your best. opportunities don’t come around every day. you will do well.

I would rather fail than pay someone to listen to me. Once I heard a Guy say to someone, if your going to beat a dead Horse, have the common sense to change instruments once in a awhile.

My experiences in the extreme heavy metal music community helped inspire a screenplay that changed my screenwriting luck, and informed a few of my other scripts as well. Stranger than fiction, as they say - and in heavy metal that couldn't be more true.

Not so much odd, but yes personal experiences and I wrote a supernatural based on a story / dream / premonition, my grandma told me when I was nine. I'm always listening, because even friends can provide you with so much story, that we as writers have stretch and twist to make it cinematic.

I was a field investigator for the Mutual UFO Network. That's how I started writing grounded sci fi. I also write horror - most from personal experiences living in an old country and later as a paranormal investigator.
