Harriet Jacobs hid in her grandmother's home; fooled her 'master' into thinking she'd fled to New York, and he went broke searching for her; finally she managed to dress as a sailor and sail to New York, where she worked with activist/abolitionist Frederick Douglas, who'd also fled to New York dressed as a sailor. He persuades Harriet to write her autobiography, which becomes the leading slave narrative written by a woman.

Hello, Stage 32ers, When I learned about the story of Harriet Jacobs, I knew I had to write a screenplay about the extremes she took to hide from her so-called master, to desquise herself as a sailor, to sail to New York and work as an activist/abolitionist with Frederick Douglass. Harriet Jacobs, enslaved person who hides in her grandmother's home, then escapes to the North; works with activist/abolitionist Frederick Douglass. She and her daughter get a school built for the children of freed slaves. Looking for a passionate Executive Producer.
