JaNae Contag received her BA in Studio Art, Political Science, and Spanish from Trinity University in San Antonio and her MFA in Visual Art from the Sam Fox School of Design and Visual Art at Washington University in St. Louis. Her work has been exhibited at Central Booking, New York, Intersect Art Center, St. Louis, The Luminary Center for the Arts, St. Louis, and Points North, Farmington, Maine among others. She recently completed a film project documenting six declining indoor malls as a grant recipient of the Regional Arts Commission of St. Louis. Contag has also collaborated on an audio-visual project, NAE, in which she performs original, produced songs written to lesser-known aspects of the built environment as a publicly distributed manifesto. She lives in Chicago and teaches Photography and Film & Video Production at DePaul University and at The Illinois Institute of Art - Schaumburg as well as working as a photographer and videographer for her co-owned studio, Concrete Imaging.
