About Tony

Tony Cammarata trained as an actor and dancer before becoming a writer-director-producer. Tony studied film and art history at the University of Bologna before graduating from the University of Minnesota with a BA in Film Production, Cinema Studies, and Italian. He went on to receive an MFA in Writing, Directing, and Producing for Motion Pictures from the USC School of Cinematic Arts, and then studied acting and directing at the Guthrie Theater under the direction of Raye Birk. His experience includes development for Killer Films producer Jocelyn Hayes Simpson, editor on the Showtime feature film Letting Go of God by former Saturday Night Live player Julia Sweeney, and screenwriter for actor-producer Ke Huy Quan (Everything Everywhere All at Once, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, The Goonies). His episodic drama pilot about a homeless Vietnam veteran was a Top 3 Finalist in the Final Draft Big Break Screenwriting Competition, and his recent feature script about a female DEA agent linking the crack cocaine epidemic of the 1980s to the Iran-Contra scandal won Best Screenplay at the Northern Virginia and Irvine International film festivals. A native of Minneapolis, Tony lives in Los Angeles.
